Mercedes-Benz E-Class runs from Dubai to Abu Dhabi without driver control

The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) and Mercedes Benz, in cooperation with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), have taken a worthy step forward towards the future of vehicles and mobility. On Friday, November 4, the Mercedes E-Class test drive was launched in the Middle East's first ever automated driving experience on the E11 highway from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, positioning Mercedes-Benz as a leader in advanced driving

By following all safety rules and traffic laws, the automated driving experience has been successful by making modifications to the help systems called DRIVE PILOT. With integrated smart sensor technology, the system enables automatic driving in a fluid way by controlling the distance from cars in front, tracking road signs, and also monitoring surrounding vehicles

To demonstrate its commitment to the highest standards of safety, this entire experiment was overseen by a selection of expert engineers from Germany who made specific modifications to the Drive Pilot to make the E-Class fully automated. These modifications have been developed for testing, especially since they are not a standard feature of the E-Class.

It is worth mentioning that our colleague Suhaib Shaasha has already known the details of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class 2016 in one of the episodes of a special coverage program, you can watch the video again through the related topics attached below
